When I got my first Shopsmith, back around 2011, Johnsons had already stopped selling the paste wax in Canada. I did find Trewax, and have been using that successfully. so after using this mod have you noticed any issues with the enlarged drum hole and sanding belt issues. I have had success applying a bit of Evaporust at the frozen parts and letting it wick in, the way you used the pb blaster.

I have three, the most I paid was $75, but prices have risen a bit the last few years.
Likely somewhere in the $100 - $200 dollar range
