Re: Shopsmith Inc's SawSmith 2000 table saw video
On this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8TRlZxIleI at 7:20, Scott mentions an add-on component for the Sawsmith which extends the range of an Edgewood-type featherboard. I think I would like to get one of these but have looked on the Shopsmitth site and cant find it. If anyone knows,...

Re: Double Tilt Way Tubes.
In vertical mode the way tubes and everything locked onto them could fall up to 3/4" if all four set screws gave out at once. Even in horizontal mode it is unsafe to operate the machine if the way tubes can shift. Just like it's unsafe to work with the casters down. It is unlikely for all of th...
Re: way tubes
Nobody has a simple instructions on how to correctly put together a Shopsmith V ends and tubes. Better known as basic set up, I find that strange. Please look at this thread with instructions for reassembly of the base and carriage: https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?p=41340#post41340 The in...

Re: Planer Feed Roller Bushing Lubrication
Are they graphite plugged bronze bushings? It doesn't make sense to me to use graphite to lube an oil lubed bushing. Doesn't make sense to me to sprinkle graphite on the end of any bushing either.

Re: Wanting to get an idea what a mark v, planner m5980 would be worth.
Demand for a Shopsmith planer is the issue. You can get a perfectly good planers in the $400-$600 range from other manufacturers so you need to find someone who cares about owning a Shopsmith planer in particular. The Mark mounted planers may be more desirable for Shopsmith owners who don't have spa...

I prefer calling it "comprehensive" instead of "way off subject".

Re: Short Rails
I would be inclined to use the 1 1/2" EMT for BENCH tubes. They are always under tension. I think they're fine for way tubes on a shorty, but for full length would prefer real way tubes. The EMT might work well enough as full length way tubes, don't really know. I used EMT on the shorty so I d...
Re: way tubes
Ed, I believe the new Mark V 520S does come with Double Tilt ends although one picture still shows the single tilt bench. The same is shown for the Mark 4 in the online catalog. Interesting to hear. It makes sense for Shopsmith. There is one disadvantage to the double tilt, you don't have a fixed e...

Re: Short Rails
Follow up note: The way tubes I have on my shorty are 1-1/2" EMT conduit. The bench tubes are old Shopsmith tubes. I hadn't thought about that for a long time. My original planned was to use even shorter tubes so I was waiting to find out that length before cutting Shopsmith tubes down. Now I'm...
