Re: 2 Slot Table and Other Questions

Thank you JPG, the ripping explaination makes sense for the extra slot. What years was the extra slot table offered? From what I've seen they are usually on the Goldie era Shopsmiths. Would the 2 slot table work on my greenie, or would I have to get the same aux table to match? Not in the market to ...

2 Slot Table and Other Questions

I have a 1954 Greenie that I am fixing up, and I frequent the auction site quite a bit. I noticed some Shopsmith tables that have 2 saw blade slots. What model were these for? Why the extra slot in the table? Why is it not on the 510 or 520 tables? And lastly, what is the difference between a 500 an...

Re: Drive Sheave Bearing Spinning in Housing

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to try Bill's approach to this. The bearings a few years old and even if they are good I don't want to chance it.

I will order a set and let you know the result.

Drive Sheave Bearing Spinning in Housing

I finally got my old Greenie headstock together for a test fit before I paint. Everything went together nicely and it runs well. It is a 1954 with the A-type sand-cast headstock. When I was adjusting the speed control, on the high speeds I started getting a high pitch ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-tat squeal from ...

Thanks for the review Bill.

I was looking at these and they have different thicknesses (.095, .125).
Which did you use/recommend?

Finally getting the hang of it

I've been a long time lurker here and I have been having alot of fun restoring my 54 greenie. The worst part of the whole process so far has been the painting. I am using Rustoleum copper and gold (I know, it's a Greenie, but I like the Goldie look :)) and I ended up taking a few months off of the r...

I searched an entire Saturday afternoon for the elusive Verde Green Rustoleum hammered in my neck of the woods, but to no avail...even the big Ace hardware here couldn't even order it! So I searched online. Found out that Home Depot does sell it, but online only and in 6-packs. $30 bucks for a...

No, they should clip in. I believe it is definitely rebuildable, but I would like to give it the period correct look with the Magna labled frame and medallion. :D

Are the Magna and SS Belt Sanders the same?

I have a Shopsmith belt sander that I want to rebuild. Since I'm restoring a greenie I would much rather find an early Magna one to match my jigsaw, or at the least one that I can scavange the frames and trunnion to make a "Franken-Magna". I've read that SS used the Magna castin...
