Two newbie questions about the SS table jigsaw
I got the jigsaw with all the other goodies when I got my shopsmith mkV two years ago but I've not had a chance to try it out until last night. I think I'll have lots of fun with it once I figure out these two questions: 1) It says in the manual to fill it with SAE 10 oil - I had some SAE 20 in the ...

Update on slipped speed changer - SUCCESS!!
Thanks to your expert guidance, I've got my ShopSmith speed changer reassembled and working properly! As wa2crk suggested, the set screw that holds the crank handle to the shaft had come slightly loose. The crank handle had shifted slightly on the shaft, which left the gear on the back of the handle...

My speed changer dial "slipped" - advice please?
So here's what happened. I was doing some table saw work. I had the SS set on slow, turned it on, waited for it to come up to speed, then dialed it up to table saw speed. I don't remember doing so, but I must have turned the changer a little fast. When I wound it back down to slow, the indicator rin...

Yeah - I did the same trick re numbering the blades. I didn't have access to long pieces of high-grade sandpaper, so I just (very carefully) honed them on my waterstones up to 8k grit - worked like a charm! JPG: I am hoping so! I'll let him find his own way, but if the little guy is at all intereste...

A belated thank you for planer blade sharpening advice!
Thanks again for the tips on that planer blade sharpening jig. I finally got around to trying it out. I have a 11 month old child, so don't get much time with the SS as one would prefer, but hey - the kid is a lot of fun. I made the jig from red oak, drilled and tapped 4 holes for some set screws to...

Finding this arbor nut is making *me* nuts.
Dear ShopSmithians: I have this SS arbor with a sort of long threaded section, a thick cylinder, two round washers and a small washer - it came with my SS with a box of other assorted bits. It is missing a nut, but I can't seem to find one anywhere! I have attached a photo of the beastie with a rule...
