Two newbie questions about the SS table jigsaw

I got the jigsaw with all the other goodies when I got my shopsmith mkV two years ago but I've not had a chance to try it out until last night. I think I'll have lots of fun with it once I figure out these two questions:

1) It says in the manual to fill it with SAE 10 oil - I had some SAE 20 in the shop, and I have some regular old 3-in-1 oil. I *think* that the regular old 3-in-1 is pretty much SAE 10 oil, but wanted to source a second opinion before I fill 'er up. Is the 3-in-1 a good choice for the oil chamber?

2) I want to do some "piercing" work (with the jigsaw, but I'm not entirely sure which is the "right" technique for removing the blade, threading it through my pilot hole and then re-tensioning it for cutting. The top chuck is an allen screw, and the bottom one is a fairly large slotted set screw - which one do I want to remove in order to thread the blade through the pilot hole in my workpiece?

I am hoping to cut out some nice snowflake ornaments for my family if I can figure out how to run this sucker.

I don't have a shop smith jigsaw but I always removed the top, don't know if that's the correct way but that's how I do it. Not sure on your oil.

Air compressor crankcase oil.

The blade top is much easier to 'see'!;)

Do make sure the air bleed hole is unobstructed.:cool:

FYI - You can buy a 16 oz. bottle of the compressor oil at Lowe's for $5.00.
