I think they still cut you back to dial-up speeds if you exceed the GB-limit.Do you remember what limit you had?
Otherwise, is the service fast and dependable?

Moving to a very remote area (Walland,TN) where there's no cable for high-speed internet. So, I'll need satellite internet (HughesNet) or wireless broadband (HomeFusion?). Anyone using these? Any advice on what route to go?

It seems to me that this type of jack (an automobile scissor jack-$15-20), would be better than a bottle jack....especially in being able to fine tune the position of the headstock either going up or coming down. Anybody tried one of these?

Guess I need to thank my lucky stars. Moving the headstock while 'vertical' not an endeavor needing 'assistance'(I am not saying tis easy!).

I am unclear how mounting away from wall on piers is beneficial.


As you said "I would try to get max distance on both sides to any wall etc.".The "etc ...

Looks like it would be easier to raise the table up & down. Why raise the bridge when you can lower the river?

I've seen a bottle jack used. Shopsmith has just come out with a gas spring table riser. I assume you leave the headstock in place and just move the table. http://www.shopsmithacademy.com ...

I'd already thought about the weight (mount securely!) and have been thinking of ways to move the headstock up/down. I guess a bottle jack like others have used would do....still thinking. A scissor jack (screw type) might be better.

I have a Mark V 510 as my main machine. Also have a 500 that I'm considering using as a dedicated (probably fixed location) drill press.
One method that interests me a lot is wall-mounted. This would probably mean simply removing the legs and bolting vertically to a cinder block wall in my basement ...

I received a handle with an old Mark V that had a nut added to the threaded area(long gone). I assume that the threaded area had been lengthened a bit to make room for the nut.

So the handle would be screwed into the hub until it bottomed out in the indentation, then the nut snugged down against ...
