I have turned hundreds of pens on the SS mandrel with a PSI mandrel saver and have had no trouble. I love using the mandrel saver. I also have a barrel trimme set that I use and like. I have been tempted to try the disc sander squaring jig.

Over the table router

I'm makng a bed for my neice. I have to route several flutes with a box cove bit. I don't have adecent router table, but got a 1/2" router collet not long after I got my SS. Opinions on using it as an over the table router??

I do understand the motion but I think it's the angles to set the jig to and how to position the gouge in the jig.

Ed,
I followed those instructions when I bought it and it turned my spindle gouge into a roughing gouge. Meaning it just put a uniform grind across the end. I can't figure out how the set the angle of the actual jig to keep a tear drop shape that spindle and bowl gouges usually have. I now have to ...

Ok so I got the full PSI sharpening system a while back. I have had great success usind everythign but the fingernail jig. I can't figure out the angle to set the jig to. Thanks guys..seems like my set screw was loose. I did lube my control sheeve throught the hole but what is the best way to lube the motor sheeve?
