Yes I should add that. I am in Palm Springs no electronics stores out here other than Radio Shack. I went to Radio Shack and their switches did not have the amp rating of this switch.

I made a temporary fix by soldering a wire on what was left of the tab and then soldered a spade lug on the other ...

If it is a white wire that is broken off - you don't need to use the switch at all for that wire. Just connect the broken off white wire to the other white wire.

This should leave you with a black wire from the power cord and a blue wire from the motor connected to the switch.

500 Switch

Does anyone know if you can get a switch at Radio Shack to replace the switch on the 500 SS. Also can you solder the leads to the switch?

When I do this, Jim, I typically do not have the legs attached. Without the legs, the Base and the Headrest are resting on my benchtop and that is the starting height.

If this does not answer your question, please give me another chance to respond.

It looks like when the two ends with out the ...

Start by making certain that both Way Tubes are exactly the same length and that both Bench Tubes are exactly the same length. The Bench Tubes should be 3/4" longer than the Way Tubes.

When I assemble, I do it on top of my work bench because I know it is flat. I install the bench tubes into the ...

Bench Tubes

I took the way and bench tubes off for a good cleaning and painting of the shopsmith. Any suggestions on how to get the bench tubes aligned again.

Drive Assembly

Is there a trick to putting back the drive assembly the one that the poly v belt rides in. I used the trick they showed on You Tube to get it out using the quill. Now it doesn't want to go back in.

Just figured out a way. I put the assembly in the freezer and the headstock in the sun and it went ...
