Re: Shopsmith lathe chisels
Thanks Russ for pointing the differences of all the SS lathe chisels versions. You must have quite a collection. Do you think that SS used a different species of wood with the 515 series than on the previous of their chisels? It sure looks different. This is the only version that the brass ferrule i...

Re: Shopsmith lathe chisels
I guess what I would really like to know is what kind of wood is used with the 515 series because as one can tell the 515 series chisels are a better quality chisel than the 555 series. The 515 series even have a brass ferrule which to me indicates these are a better quality chisel. To me the newer ...

Re: Shopsmith lathe chisels
Check the SS website again and the prices for the chisels sets come up my bad. There was only one individual chisels come up and the was the 515030. Just wanted some information as the quality of the 515 series. As stated before the quality of the 515 series chisels looks much better than the basic ...

Re: Shopsmith lathe chisels

Shopsmith lathe chisels
Need some clarification on SS lathe chisels what is the difference between 515027 and 555027? The shape of the 515027 chisel is different that the 555027 chisel. The handles are different types of wood. 515027 is a nicer material wise chisels. The 5151027 wood handle looks like oak with a brass ring...

Re: Power Pro Planner help
My bad like I said before weird situation "HTH can the pivot arms be in backwards. I don't know but when I test another infeed roller and had free movement. I installed the original roller and had free movement which is what I wanted in the first place. And I understand the purpose of the nut l...

Re: Power Pro Planner help
Update: weird situation the pivot arms were on backwards found out by accident. Tried another infeed roller to see if the original infeed was defective and no binding with roller so put the original roller back in with the pivot arms in same position. Never would have guessed. I do believe the brass...

Re: Power Pro Planner help
Remember SS changes parts and does not change their manuals. These nuts I'm referring too seem to be permanent spacers. I took the infeed roller out and it appears that there are brass bearings in the pivot arms and one of these bearings was not aligned correctly. I evened the bearing only to make r...

Re: Power Pro Planner help
Russ, I have the manual for the 2006 pro planner but no parts diagram. And that is my problem the infeed roller definitely has a nut on each end of the roller between the washers and roller and no newer parts manual. I don't think the roller should bind like it is binding. Shopsmith has been know to...
