Re: Accessory Storage Idea Thread

Garys, I really like your roll around cabinet you made. Could you let me know where I might get plans for it? There aren't any plans for the cabinet. I build things from ideas in my head and no plans are ever drawn up on paper. After I built the first one from oak, I built a second one from cherry ...

Re: GFCI protected circuits

This explanation indicates that the GFCI is not needed on a dust collector, and likely serves no purpose for static electricity. Since I have it on a GFCI, I will leave it that way for now. If I don't get false tripping of the GFCI, I'll leave it this way. If I have problems in the future, I'll simp...

Re: GFCI protected circuits

You are likely correct. Every time I do research on a subject, I find conflicting information from so-called experts. My theory on all this is read a lot of opinions, but use your best judgement on what you think is true. The internet is a great source of misinformation. On this subject, I figured t...

Re: GFCI protected circuits

What is there about a DC that makes a GFCI 'a good idea' ? I didn't write the book. I only read it. There was a "suggestion" that since dust collectors can create static electricity and dust can explode, a GFCI would be a good idea. I never thought GFCI's were there to help that, but what...

Re: GFCI protected circuits

OK, you guys convinced me. I added a GFI outlet to my dust collector. The book for it suggested it might be a good idea. My woodworking shop is in my house so very few circuits are on GFCI. Until now, only the kitchen, bathrooms, and the laundry had them. I now have one in my shop. I probably won't ...

Re: its snowing

There never seems to be anything new with the weather. Around here is has always been erratic. On Monday morning it was 7 degrees here. This afternoon it is 73 degrees and forecast to be around 80 tomorrow. During all this, my crocuses are trying to bloom. The 7 degrees is tough on them.

Re: How do you save a board that you cut too short?

Just use your board stretcher to take care of that problem. It is April 1 after all. Also, you can use the pasta press concept. You roll your dough through rollers that make it thinner, wider, and longer. You can do the same thing using your 12" planer on wood. Just remove the blades and run th...

GFCI protected circuits

Does anybody here run their Shopsmith on a GFCI circuit? If so, is tripping a problem? While on the subject, is anybody running their dust collector on a GFCI circuit? How does that work. I read a lot of situations where people have equipment with large motors and are having problems tripping a GFCI...

That's nice. Around here, snow can easily happen in every month except June, July, and August.

Re: New Shopsmith DC-6000 Dust Collector

Shopsmith isn't alone right now with some delays. I did some looking around on the internet, and there are other brands of dust collectors that are having delays right now too due to manufacturing plants having slowdowns or shutdowns in the past year due to COVID. During that time, demand for them l...
