Just as an added thought my cylinder is for the conventional headstock but performs acceptably with the Power Pro headstock. I am suddenly realizing that the older I get the longer it takes to recover from an injury.

Dusty The compressed and extended length can be determined easily by measurement if you have one installed. I do know that the "force" is very high. When I had mine off there was no way that I could put enough pressure to compress the cylinder one little bit. Just look at the geometry of t...

I have a 3" in my shop and we have a few in the club shop of 3 1/4 inch and 3 1/8 inch. One of our members who used to make clocks donated them.

If you make the board long enough you can tuck one end under your arm pit and grab the other end with your hand and just bend down to compress the spring and remove the snap ring. Then relieve tension on the spring SLOWLY to keep it under control. Looks like you did a real good job on the sheave cle...
