Glue effects on cutting tools

Wood Magazine issue 208 Nov 2011 did an article titled Stop Unnecessary Dulling it is about things that can dull our cutting tools and ways to prevent it.
They mentioned something in the article I never thought about. The glue used in the construction of Plywood.

They show a picture of the results of running a piece of ply through a jointer and then jointing a solid wood. The jointer blades were grooved exactly on the glue lines and left tiny ridges in the jointed surface of the solid wood.

They say light cutting can be done with carbide cutting edges but that glue will quickly dull steel.

There is a reason we used particle board in wear tests back in the days I worked at B&D test labs. The stuff is consistent, and it wears the heck out of blades. Glues are hard on sharp edges.
