Post by joedw00 »

Lowe’s Companies Inc. said Monday it plans to close 20 underperforming stores in 15 states.

I assume the SS demos were not conducted at any of those stores.

I would hate for ss to be to blame for their 'under performing'(wonder if that means losing $).

I have a couple of gift cards from Lowes, I think I will go buy something just in case they close the stores here even if Wichita is not on the list now.

Around here, all three Lowes appear to be doing well. It was Home Depot which closed one store in Fort Wayne a few years ago. It's still vacant.

Under performing stores: I wonder how many of those Lowe's are within two or three miles of still another Lowe's or Home Depot.

Here in Tucson, in about a five mile circle, there are two Lowe's and two Home Depot's and three ACE Hardware stores.

Now I never studied marketing but somehow that just does not seem like good planning. The box stores that I reference are not small either and three of them are in buildings specifically built for them. The other two repurposed buildings that were already there.

One of the Low's is literally across the street from a Home Depot. The other Lowe's is and two miles away from a Home Depot.

Thanks for the reminder. I have a gift card and a couple things I need.

I note that none of the closures are in Indiana... Last I heard the one they are supposed to build 2 miles north of me is still going to be built. I hope so. They did delay construction a year otherwise it would be up by now.
Construction is not going wild here now but keeps chugging along decent, new stores are opening and "some" new houses are being built. A real estate friend told me a while back that any house that was nice and not priced at the top of the market in price was selling...
Not a boom time here and some folks don't seem to be able to find jobs but my kids and grandkids seem to be able to find work and no big problems changing jobs.

Maybe those folks having difficulty 'finding jobs' need to be looking for 'work' instead.]is [/B]a difference! As an 'employer' I see the difference in attitude and expectations(both from employee and employer).
