This was a fun and challenging project. These pics will show the steps I took to ensure an almost perfectly balanced blank before it went on the lathe.

I used a rail and stile bit combo to create a stronger edge joint and ensure better alignment for the blank. My table saw insert was turned into a pivot for the blank by attaching a bolt thru a scrap piece of plywood and inserting it into a hole in the insert. The blank was attached to the plywood using double stick tape and required a chisel to separate when done. This worked well enough that the round blank could be spun like a lazy susan.

The glued blank fit the pattern from the wikipedia decagon trick as well as the test cuts did in the Angle 1 pic. After gluing I thought I was off on the blank and set it on the pattern to check. It looked like I had traced around the blank it fit so well.

By off setting the bottom blank and double stick taping the blanks together I was able to cut identical circles leaving waste on all sides of one blank. I drilled a hole thru both blanks before placing on the pivot point of my circle cutting jig. This was essential to centering the blank for all future steps. I rabbetted the end caps into the blank for extra strength and to save inches on the SS.
