Does the aluminum table bolt to the same trunion the cast iron table uses?
And has anyone ever tried converting a 500 main table for use with the Bandsaw?
My tools are still in storage so I can't investigate the possibility myself right now. It was something I was just thinking about this morning.

And has anyone ever tried converting a 500 main table for use with the Bandsaw? Why would you want to do that? It is pretty crowded with the smaller ones.

Ahh go ahead and 'sell' it!:D However a 'spare table and carriage' might come in handy 'some day'.

Why would I want to do that? I ask why not? I
I have an extra 500 carriage, main table, and fence buried in storage - not part of my current "sell" pile. As I get closer to being able to build my shop I'm just thinking about things I might want to try to set up.
I have a 510 fence on ebay currently. Someone sent me a message asking if it was for the table saw or Bandsaw. That question started a train of thought which eventually took me to wondering about using the 500 table and fence on the Bandsaw.

Yes, I did one a few years ago. You need the 500 table with the removable fence rail. I sawed a slot from the table front to the insert, not centered on the insert to miss the insert screw. I sawed a slot on the side of the insert, shortest distance. I used the table insert with the round hole and machined an insert for the round hole. I believe I had to add a supporr on the insert for the machined round insert. I have to remove the fence rail and table insert each time to change the blade. Plus I got an aluminum table bandsaw which quickly replaced this 500 table bandsaw so the project died a quick death. I used 2 aluminum 1 1/2"(not sure) "L" brackets with vertical side of the "L" bracket cut to give clearence for the horizontal position of the table. I did not do any welding to make the 500 table fit.heathicus wrote:Does the aluminum table bolt to the same trunion the cast iron table uses?

I still have a few aluminum table bandsaws available if anyone is interested.

FWIW the 500 fence will fit/work on the aluminum bandsaw table(it has the same extrusion as on the 500(Poly-v version), but is too long to clamp on the opposite side of the table.heathicus wrote:Why would I want to do that? I ask why not? I

A 510 fence will not! You would have to add the 'tube'.
