I saw a nice Porter Cable table saw in Lowes for $549. With cast iron top and extension wings and a Biesemeyer style fence.
I saw a nice Saw Stop table saw in a magazine ad with a cast iron table and a nice fence for $1599. So much for the $100 difference that Gass keeps talking about.

This is a representative sample of what you might be referring to. They do appear to be comparable except in price. The question is why would someone chose to purchase the more expensive one? Does it work better?

Which one will last 20 to 25 years?

If I am going to give up my Shopsmith in exchange for a table saw it will be one of these but there will have to be an outfeed table with it. I am NOT comparing apples to apples here. The Unisaw is 3 or 4 times as expensive and Sawstop does make a unit comparable to the pictured Unisaw. That makes no difference to me. I have always wanted a Unisaw but could not and can not have one because of space.

I don't want to derailed the subject but what about "bullet sensing flesh technology" ... anybody heard something about that ?
That would sure reduce crimes ... and hunting accidents .
Would the lawyers of the world make more money out of that ?

I can't tell if you are being serious or this is "tongue in cheek". But when the bullet finally senses the flesh "it is too late"!

Flesh sensing bullet technology didn't do much for Richard Benjamin and James Brolin.

The Unisaw makes Festool look cheap!

3.5k could buy a lot of Festools including tables and DC, all stored neatly until needed.

I'd have to add about $500 to that $3.5K to get what I really want. The Delta outfeed table runs about $500 and I don't know if there are any table saw accessories included in that price.
