Just so you know, when a guy like me looks at the picture of your shop, I can't even remember what the post was about, I'm just looking for something to wipe the drool from my mouth.

Oh my I did not realize this was a general shop improvements thread until too late. Oh well I'll just repost my tablesaw outfeed table mash up here. I have a few more upgrades recently completed to show as soon as I get the pictures taken.

Mark I'm a little confused about the boards you mount the clamps on. What do they do for you?

By being mounted to the boards, the bessy clamps can be clamped to and removed from the bench more easily than trying to get them to stand up on the bench.

As to the boards for the bessey clamps JPG pegged it. I can quickly clamp them to my bench. The black clamp stands are mounted to the boards. I screwed the front ones down and also screwed the clamps to them so that they cannot slide forward. The rear block just floats in a track so that I can slide them back and forth. The left side clamp and block is stationary and I use it as a squaring block also. The right side I just move along the length of the bench depending on the length of the doors. I am working on a thread in the next few days and they may make better since. The thread will be about a cypress cabinet for an outdoor kitchen.

I drilled holes in all the lever arms so that I could mount a board to activate all 4 at one time.

Problem is I cant budge it and I don't think an elephant could lift this thing. Farmer my be right with the Monster truck tires!:D


Tomorrow I am going to plan B and mount a lever board to flip down and activate the casters.

I'm sure Mark will fill us in on using those fixtures, but in the mean time it looks to me like the set-up allows for squaring the door parts and then clamping everything together rapidly. The left side looks to be for ensuring that the door stiles and rails end on that side are square without having to fiddle with the parts. Just push the parts against the left fixture and you're good to go with adding the other parts and tightening the clamps. Then drop in two more clamps and you're ready for the next door. Those black blocks are indeed for aligning and keeping the clamps upright.

I am also drooling over mbcabinetmaker's shop, BTW. My humble improvement is not quite on a par with his work, but it made me happy!

I just posted this on another thread, but it seems appropriate here. I built a sharpening jig for the set of turning tools that came with my 10ER and used it to get started turning.

Nice job on the sharpening jig Rick. I assume the arrow shaped part slides in and out to handle different tools? Turning is on my list too, just have not gotten to it.
