New Riving Knife any one do a review yet?

About 6 months ago shopsmith released their new riving knife, within 24 hours they taken over 50 orders so I'd have to guess at least a few users/posters here must have them and used them, but I did not find any follow up reviews.

They are on sale (ie free shipping) again so I thought I would bring up the subject again to see if any one has comments.

I did not purchase one so I can't very well do a review, how about you?

Okay i guess I will be labeled as one who is not fond of the the top blade guard. Recently I have been working with plywood and harwoods while building two Sewing tables. I have found the riving knife does exactly as advertised. I find it safe to use and inexpensive to purchase. I actually have purchased two of them. One for each Shopsmith. Fjimp

No joy for older 500 table users as it only works for 505 and up.

Yes, that would be great!
More realistic might be the caster upgrade, if I'm lucky.

I added a wood spline to a throat plate....by cutting a blade slot in the throat plates that I made from 1/4" particle board then gluing in an over size wood spline in the backend of the slot. Kinda like the Microjig Table Saw Splitter . Height of spline may have to be terminally height adjusted for shallow dadoes, but it helps if you don't have the 500 blade guard system.

I have the SS Riving Knife, use it on the 520, because I had two memorable kickbacks cutting blade width dados before I bought the SS Riving Knife. If it prevents ONE kickback, IT'S WORTH IT.

I decided to build my own. I made several different version before I finally settled on one that in principal is the same as the one Shopsmith now sells.

I use this one a lot when cutting small strips. The rip fence is not shown but is definitely required.
