Those cradles are great. I love the painting. Of course, considering my recent project I'm partial to painted furniture right now.

Very nice candle holders and cabinet. Great job. Those shelves are amazing.

And, I would love to see those finished pens.

Does anyone do pens on the Shopsmith? I would love to know how to set up. Thanks.

Time is running out

It's hard to get much done when the shop is below 45F degrees after about 4 in the afternoon, but I'm trying to finish up presents for my kids and grandkids:

My two oldest grandsons just turned 3, being born 6 days apart. Here's their birthday presents:

The third one is 6-months old and here's his Christmas present:

One daughter is getting these coasters made from a golden raintree I removed for a customer. (I hate to throw away any wood!!)

Her sister is into cooking now, so she's getting this knock-down book holder for her recipe books in the kitchen. It's maple:

The two son-in-laws and two ex-wives (long, long story) are getting oak boot jacks. Forgot to take a pic before they got wrapped. Super simple to make and useful for those of us getting too old or tired to pull our shoes off at the end of the day:

There's more, but it's out in the shop where the temp is in the low 30s and dropping and I ain't going out there again tonight!

Dave,

Thank you so much for posting that link to a super tutorial with great pix. May give that a try this coming spring when the temps get back up into the 60's and I have more time. Will also re-read the thread and will be ordering a starter kit. May mess up some wood and kits, but will be very happy to learn. Then may start doing some bowls. One step at a time. Thanks, again.

Ben:

Those coasters are real nice!

We did something similar as one of my daughters spent time at a friends lakeside cottage this summer. The weather took down a tree so daughter brought me a piece from a small branch, we took a few slices and spruced them up to make coasters. She will be giving them to her friends at Christmas.

Unfortunately they do not have the spectacular pattern that yours have.

Great job on the other gifts as well

Coasters and book racks are very nice. Love the wood in each. Thanks for the ideas. Great job! Those little tables are awesome. I made three recently, but not that good looking. Of course, the purchaser requested that they be made from 2 X 4's and 2 X 6's, so no need to dissappoint.
