Wiring Problem

Can anyone help me wire up the switch on my machine please? I'm in the UK so the wiring going to the plug has blue and brown wires with spade connectors to link to the switch, and a green/yellow earth wire which is already led to the casing. The two wires out of the motor are olive green and dull yellow in colour - not a colour code that I know and not one I've been able to find in any manual or online discussion.

The switch has four spade contacts connected in two pairs, which i think is standard.

What do I connect to what?

If it helps, the motor was fitted in the UK, I guess about twenty five years ago.

Not that it's relevant to my problem but I believe the machine itself goes all the way back to the mid fifties. My father brought it back with him from Canada. It's still going strong.

Since the switch is double pole, the color coding is not important. Also in the UK there is not I believe an 'identified neutral conductor'.

So, the 4 switch terminals are arranged in pairs. One pair is centered on the switch body. The other pair is towards one end.

The mains cord is connected to the middle pair. Blue to one terminal and the brown to the other terminal of the middle pair.

The motor wires probably started life as a blue wire and a white wire and acquired a yellowish cast over the years. If they are 25 years old, be cautious as they may be rubber insulation and 'friable' at this time.

Anywho, one wire to each of the end pair terminals.
