Available SS Mark 7- Magna

Post by GA Ben »

Hello,

My Shopsmith needs a new home-

It is the 60's model Mark 7 with the cabinet base and dust collector blower.
Motor head works great, both directions, even have the original keys.
It also includes a fully in tact plastic speed cam.

The bad news- the tool rest carriage aluminum casting is broken on the front side- needs welded by an aluminum expert or replaced. Does anyone know if a Mark 5 can be used on it interchangeably?

When i got this thing it had the expected surface rust- I cleaned the way tubes, went through the head and cleaned and lubed everything, (especially the parts connected to the speed cam) and checked everything out for proper assembly.

It has been used since a bit since then- mostly for turning bowls and whatnot. I have kept it relatively clean.

I have (i think) all the original arbors and the disc sanding wheel, table saw/router/shaper table. end-mounting support table, and tail stock for turning.

It tilts both ways.

does not have the retracting feet- they were gone when i got it.

I also have a copy of the owners manual with schematics that I used when I rebuilt the head. will include this with the machine.

Oh yes and it is in Columbus, GA. Available for Pickup.

I have a tool rest carriage and table available if you need one.

alternatively you can switch to a mark V one if you swap out the table as well (and probably remove the plastic rack from the way tubes.

Appreciated- I am more interested in selling it- unfortunately i need that footprint back in my shop due to limited floor space, and a new dedicated lathe that is taking its place. If I could, i would keep it around to tinker with and do smaller projects on- it is a really neat machine. It would be a great one to do a restore on- everything is there, (except that tool carriage)- just needs cleaned up a bit and a new paint job.
