I saw this on Fleabay and looked it up at Shopsmith's website. Holy Crappola!
I can buy 2.5 new ones for that price!

I have two power couplers but there is no red coloring on them. Should I add some red to them so they will be worth so much more?

Seems fair to me.

I just don't understand why the stuff I put on ebay doesn't produce that sort of return.

I guess it might be because the plastic used in those old ones was much better.

I do have two (with red writing) that have been in service for almost twenty years. That old plastic must be pretty good.

Hurry, get yours before the price goes up.

Actually the really old ones(yellowish nylon plastic[Zytel] are the best(not sure about the ancient rubber encased ones - they ARE still around).

Still have/use my 'original from 63'.

I have noticed this seller seems to have an unusual number of "high"(exorbitant) selling prices.

You obviously are honest and don't have multiple ebay id's allowing you to shill bid on your own stuff to drive the price up. Not saying that particular ebay seller is shill bidding but it does happen a lot on the bay and when you see an otherwise common item being bid up higher than what you'd pay new for it, chances are there's some shilling going on, usually in conjunction with one real bidder (usually of the variety that's born every minute).

Howard Huges once said, "A sucker is born every minute!" That's why when I bid on stuff, if it begins to approach 1/2 the price of a new one, I stop. I've been waiting for years. And, a few more days, weeks or months won't hurt anymore.

If you want to bid there, first check out the price of a new one from Shopsmith. If I need it in a hurry, it's easy to get what you want from the factory. Often I get good deals on blades. Also, a few months ago, got a really good deal on biscuit cutter. Some sellers do jack the price, also charge for flat rate shipping, then ship at a cheaper price. Some you can trust, others, once you've been burned, you stay away from the heat.

I never bid until the last 10 sec.! I bid the most I am willing to pay. I either get it or I don't. A lot less anxiety and no opportunity for shill bidding.
