New Mexico Shopsmith Users

Post by pessen »

This thread is being developed so that Shopsmith owners/users around the state of New Mexico can let one another know where we are.

Please, if you live anywhere in New Mexico, post a reply to let us know your general location.

I would advise against specific addresses and/or telephone numbers. If you do not have your personal profile set to accept email, please consider doing that.

Currently live in Albuquerque, but will be moving a tad bit south to Peralta (between Bosque Farms and Los Lunas) next weekend.

Bought my first SS a few months back, but it has been sitting without being touched due to my need to finish up my Masters degree. Just defended my thesis yesterday so I am looking forward to getting the SS up and running.

I am interested in getting into pen turning, as well as various other wood projects for around our new place.

So, how many other SS owners are there here in the Land of Enchantment? Oh, and Red or Green?

Being in Peralta, it looks like I am right in between you both.

I have only had my SS for about a year, but have just recently gotten it cleaned up and actually running. I bought it last Feburary, but since then I have defended my thesis, had our third child be born, bought and moved to our house here in Peralta, and put in quite a bit of work doing cleaning/brush removal/odds-n-ends around our new property. All that kept me pretty busy and I am just now feeling like I actually have gotten to a point where I can start playing. :)

I am wanting to get into turning pens, and eventually bowls. Plus plan to do some woodworking projects for the house.

I've still got a bit of family in Peralta..... I lived in Curry and Roosevelt Counties all my life. Moved to the TX Panhandle just a few years ago.

Looking for Help

Post by emcee »

I live in Rio Communities, which is east of Belen. I have a 2004 Model 520 Pro-Fence. Due to illness, I have barely used this machine.
I would like to find someone (who lives close by) who would be willing to help me re-set up this machine to original configuration and then teach me how to use it properly. Will pay for your time, and will also pay for the wood. I especially would like to learn how to use the lathe.
