Mark VII Speed Control

I'll get one if they come in alumnimum.

I was going to make one in acrylic or delrin using my laser. This is the CorelDraw Document X4 I made.

The only things I havn't measured from mine is the thickness of the center of the cam and the thickness of the flange which the follower surrounds.

Can you you view this in anything beside CorelDraw?

The cdr file works fine. You can convert it to an adobe illustrator format pretty easily.

So this is a good thing

Can Wannabewoodworker or mabe if someone else has a couple photos they can take with a ruler next to the cam (a couple different angles). This way it gives him a better understanding of what he need to do and will help to set a price. I found some pics online but none with a ruler next to it lol.
I would like one out of aluminum or brass myself but does anyone think one made out of steel and then painted be ok? Just wondering as Im thinking theres going to be a good price difference in the metals. Looking for opinions here.

I will forward the pics to him as soon as I receive some from one of you.

Hey HD,
Like I said I can remove my perfect cam from my fully functioning Mark VII and send it to you so your guy could look at it and measure it in person. I know that the guy who was going to make them for me had my originals for a week so he could completely measure them and put those numbers in his CAD program. He really needs the actual cam in his hands if he is going to have any chance of machining it accurately. This is not a trivial part to make. The guy I talked to said his machine could CNC the part out of aluminum in about 20-30 min. but if he did it in steel it would take considerably longer.
Just tell me where to send it and I will ship it to you. I would hope you take very good acre of it and send it back to me unscathed as without it my Mark VII is useless of course.

I cannot think of a good reason why steel would be preferable to aluminum. Other than melting(due to dry over heated bearing) nylon was good enough.

Lets wait till after this weekend. Im supposed to go on a road trip (18 hrs round trip) to pick up another mark vii thats in good shape. I would prefer to send my own speed cam that I will purchase as to not having it hanging over my head be responsible for someone elses part if something was to happen. The guy that would be doing the work has done work for me before but also lives on the other end of the country. If I dont end purchasing the mark vii this weeken and you are still willing to use your, I think it would be best to send it to him direct anyways. Im in NY and he is in OR. Where are you located?

I heard back from the guy that will be making the speed cams. The price per cam will be $85 + $6.50 shipping (priority with tracking).They will be milled out out aluminum. I would like to get an idea how many to order. Just to be clear I will need the payment before I give him the order as full payment is required at the time of ordering. He said he will start on them as soon as he gets the cam with payment. We will have to give him a couple weeks, so keep that in mind, we wont have them in a couple days type of deal. I will be purchasing a cam this weekend and I will send it out to him on Monday. So as soon as you let me know the better. PM me if you are interested or if you know anyone looking for a new cam.

i don't have a 7, but I would pay that in a heartbeat if I did. (keep in mind, I'm a cheap bastardo)
I have avoided buying a Mark 7 for that reason, but now may rethink it.
