Did you notice whether the current owners gave themselves away by asking questions of the presenter with Shopsmith-specific lingo?

I think he just looks for the old farts that seem interested. Maybe too much head nodding?:D

I had no sawdust hanging on my clothes. My shopsmith hat and apron's were all hanging back in the shop. In fact I was dressed in slacks and a dress shirt for a client appointment. I was still at least 25 or 30 feet away when he said I am telling this guy you are an owner, I can spot them a mile away. No I did not use "Shopsmith Lingo," until after he began the presentation. After we had been visiting for all of 10 seconds he asked about the writing instruments in my pocket. I got a kick out of him having me show off the pen and shop pencil in my pocket to every new person who joined the circle. I was impressed that the only people he asked if the were owners, are in fact owners. After the presentation several owners invested time to visit with each other. None of us had ever met before.

My question is are you inviting the presenter to the party?

Incidentally I purchased a full set of the new Shopsmith abrasives while in Lowes that day. Since then have stocked up again on a couple of sizes. They are top quality. There are a few items not yet available locally that I hope are soon stocked. Check them out. I for one can't wait to see the Demo again at the Denver Home Show.

We would also enjoy the company of:

anneb3, gene, chucks, skou, rcoder, notlem, gilamonster, ron and jb41339 along with any other Shopsmith owner (please excuse if I missed anyone) in the general area that I have not listed. I'll bet that we will also be welcomed by the crew at IHOP.

Been to my first demo in alot of years today here in Phoenix....temptation is indeed real! Tell'em to save a cup of coffee for me and I'll make the trip just to see what the other parts of this state look like.

Gene her nix is sad, this is a rare opportunity to learn for another highly qualified presenter. There were several owners in Denver who did not place orders. Still all agreed they picked up something useful. I would be wise to refrain from saying this, but, well some of the men there clearly were drooling with great desire, one fellows wife was with him. The look on there faces made me wish I could write a check and get them started. Then it hit me, I remember a day when I couldn't buy one back in the 70's. That bugged me enough to acquire the tools necessary to earn an adequate living to be able to buy the tools I desired. Perhaps that event will inspire that couple the way it did for me. Hey I learned a new way to use one of my lathe tools. Good things happen at those events if we just let them. Jim

PHOENIX?? THERE WAS A DEMO IN PHOENIX??

Geez - I gotta stop this working for a living crap...its getting in the way of my hobby time! Stupid career!

BTW - I would love the idea of getting a group of us ShopSmith Phoenicians together! Maybe we could traverse from one shop to another to another??

The way I see it, you cant have too many friends!
