The *other* Ohio-made 520's

Post by nuhobby »

I just got an old used 520 for less than $50 !! Ohio-made, with excellent parts availability to this day!

I have used and abused mine for many years (over 20) and it still serves me well. I should really use it with more respect for what it is; a precision made tool box.

I've had an 8 drawer 26" model 526 that I bought and have used since 1978. Major good quality. :) If you want to know how good of shape you're in try and pick it up when it's full. :(

Just checked out the local Craig's list. You didn't only "get it". Sounds like you "stole it".:D

I have a 520 too. Mine was my grandfather's from the 1930's. I replaced the felt lining in the drawers as it had been in my parents' basement for too long. Good solid box. I think you will get good use from yours.

Something I saw

While cleaning up the old tool-box, I looked for similar ones on the web; I think my price was good but not a total steal compared to similar-condition ones. Anyway.... couldn't help but see this hand-made BEAUTY:

P.S. I hope he allowed for seasonal wood dimension changes.

Hi Tim,

Nice to see you stopped in! And still spouting the Made in the USA flag!

I too have several of these boxes, that is where I keep my "good stuff".
