SS in lathe configuration

I have been using my SS model 520 in the lathe configuration for several days putting quite a few hours on the headstock. I generally turn in the slow speeds and sand in the F speed on the speed dial. Does this harm the headstock in any way? Should I be oiling any particular area more often than regular maintenance? I vacuum the headstock often in an attempt to keep the dust particles out of the headstock (as much as possible).
In order to maintain my SS in tip top condition any suggestions would be welcome.

Continue to keep it clean (inside especially) and don't worry about "over oiling". This machine is a mechanical marvel if you just care for it.

As a table saw, you might be amazed at what a new (sharp) blade does for it. I know that every time I introduce a new blade I am able to tell the difference -- even if the previous blade seems to be sharp.
