True Trac
I was going to buy one from Shopsmith yesterday until I learned I couldn't use the 20% off coupon code for the purchase. Why? Dave told me the reason was that Shopsmith didn't make it, so the 20% coupon was no good. <heavy sigh>
So for giggles and grins, I Googled it and found a place called http://www.toolnut.com sells the True Trac system for $249.99 with free shipping. Shopsmith would of had a sale, but didn't want to honor their coupon:
SPECIAL - 5-DAYS ONLY *
ORDER CONFIRMATION OFFER
SAVE 20%
… off any single regularly priced item you order within the next 5 days*
* This special offer expires five days from the date shown in the DETAILS BOX at the top right of this e-mail. This discount MAY NOT be applied to this current order or to any previously placed orders…or used in combination with any other offer of any type. Offer does not include Shopsmith Mark 7 / Mark Vs, Shopsmith Major Accessories (Shopsmith PowerPro, Bandsaw, Jointer, Belt Sander, Planer, Scroll Saw, Strip Sander , Pin Router, Thickness Planer, Lathe Duplicator, Dust Collector, SandFlee, PowerStation), Nova G3 Chuck, or Oneway and Incra items.
The * says nothing about Tool Trac items so Shopsmith lost two orders as I cancelled the new caster wheel set I ordered to get a coupon code. That's a shame because I have spent a small fortune on Shopsmith stuff and have purchased non-Shopsmith items from Shopsmith using the 20% off coupon before. So I encourage people to check out the toolnut.com web site as Shopsmith charges $50 more plus shipping than the toolnut place. I ordered one last night & will have it tomorrow.

One Greenie, Two Mark 7s,Three 510s and much more…
That's disappointing. I was just going to do the same thing since the discounted price with s&h would put it only slightly more than buying it from a couple of other vendors. I would rather support ShopSmith, all other things being close to equal ... I was happy when I didn't see the True Trac amongst the list of exclusions on the coupon I just got on Monday. Apparently, it should be there. I know this item was recently on sale at ShopSmith - guess I should have bought it then ...backhertz wrote:I was going to buy one from Shopsmith yesterday until I learned I couldn't use the 20% off coupon code for the purchase. As a retired retailer (pharmacy owner) I was always taught and followed the concept that you don't let a customer walk. Since so much effort is expended to attempt to get a customer to enter your store (area of sales) once in you should at least make every attempt to complete the sale.
But then I'm retired...and perhaps sales stratagies are different now.

I would have pursued this farther than you did. They market the item AND it was not listed amongst the items not to be honored by this sales offering. Shopsmith very clearly listed those items not covered by the sale. The True Trac was not on that list.
Customer Service has once again stepped on it.

I also went to order the True Trac from Shopsmith on 4/13 Friday. It was $269.64 but went up to $299.99. I was going to get it anyway to help out ShopSmith but with shipping and tax added I couldn't justify it.
I called the Tool Nut at 9:30pm on Friday and actually got ahold of someone that answered a few questions I had. I placed my order on-line and just got shipping confirmation that it will be delivered 4/20. I saved a little under $100.00 getting it from The Tool Nut.
Strange that backhertz and I had similar experiences.

Thanks for the update. I had wondered if SS had changed their policy on this since Backhertz had originally posted. Apparently not. This is where it seems like it would be worthwhile for SS to have someone monitor these forums - seems like it could help them to be even more responsive to customers or potential customers, and perhaps tweak their ongoing sales policies, etc.bicman wrote:I also went to order the True Trac from Shopsmith on 4/13 Friday. Curious - Have you been able to find any website for them that shows all of the accessories as well. All I could find was the main site with a link to the one introduction video. I would like to see pics of the square and the repeater attachment. They are available (quite inexpensive) through Toolnut, but they don't have any pics.
Did you order any attachments, or just the guide kit?
Thanks! Bob

Yes they are!!!!! Today many business owners and employees approach customers and customer service as why are you bothering me? Don't you see there are plenty of people that have more money than brains and until they go broke I don't need your business.

Ed, do you REALLY feel like that? Do people really treat you that badly? Maybe you need to move to a friendlier neighborhood.Ed in Tampa wrote:Yes they are!!!!! Today many business owners and employees approach customers and customer service as why are you bothering me?
