Pirate ship

I think I (we) have finally finished our part. Now it is up to the imagination of the grandchildren. The pirate ship started as a request for a playhouse with a pirate theme by my daughter. I tried to put her off till the weather was better, but gee whiz, we live in Southern California, and the weather is almost always "better." About 3 weeks and about $700 later the twins have their playhouse. Concrete blocks, redwood frame, 3/4" exterior ply. Interior walls have blackboard paint. I am in the process of turning a cannon and making a ships wheel. The we part comes from my daughter and friends doing the painting, and my son-in-law, who thought every tool was a hammer, developing a real appreciation of woodworking. He really enjoyed himself.
Truly, never thought I would accomplish this as I am more an arts and crafty woodworker. But it was fun.

A whole family project for kids can't be beat.

Congratulations on getting your son in law involved. One of mine has difficulty tightening a door knob. When I asked my daughter about getting some starter power tools for him I was told emphatically not to get him anything that was sharp!!
