The we want a paper catalog movement
Moderator: admin
I'm with swampgator, I just don't enjoy searching a computer catalog. Give me nice BIG print any time.
In the olden days, I used to look through the catalog and find additional items to add to an order just to consolidate shipping costs ("well, I'm sure I'll need one of those some day, so I may as well order it now.")
Now I only buy stuff when something breaks, or there's a good e-mail special.

It is scarey. I must have sensed this movement in the making. I put the pressure on Mike yesterday when he pulled out a copy of the 2008 catalog "to use" no less.
"Oh, can I have a copy of the catalog too. Mine is worn to a frazzle."

Lee Valley Veritas sends me a beautiful full color glossy catalog every so often, almost 300 pages. It must cost a fortune to print and mail. It's a work of art. I keep it in the bathroom and open it to a random page almost daily. An amazing collection of tools and supplies. I like to think the catalog works together with the web site to help me find what I want. Shopsmith is running lean and mean I get the feeling they're barely keeping their nose out of the water. Sadly I doubt they will be printing a catalog any time soon.

As much as I'd like a catalog, my dream would be for Shopsmith to outsource their ordering and fulfillment to amazon. When your order is fulfilled through amazon, you get your stuff when you want it, plain and simple.

It truly saddens me to see so many old set in their way woodworkers on this forum!

I have a bunch of Penn State Catalogs here. Anybody want a dozen.
Seems like I get one about every two weeks. Paper catalogs are expensive and SS is not the only people trying to get away from them. Mailing costs are also going way up. But I still enjoy paper catalogs cause they are good for inspiration.

I need to download the 2008 catalog to my wife's kindle. I think browsing them on a standard computer isn't much fun, but maybe it will be a better experience on an ebook reader.

2008 Shopsmith Catalog
Is it the 2008 paper catalog that is depicted in the PDF version or is the PDF version kept current.
