So what did you use today?

Post by fiatben »

I was in the shop yesterday (or the day before, memory isn't what it used to be) and doing some things when it occurred to me how much I had used my SS versus anything else in the shop and how many of the "five-in-one" setups I had used. It wasn't a big project, and I wasn't really out there for very long. Then I got to wondering what you guys were up to. So, to rob Bill Engvall's line, "here's your thread..."

In a short time I had used the saw, bandsaw and horizontal boring. I would have used the lathe, but my little CarbaTec mini was just too convenient for the really small turning I needed to do.

So, how many ways have you used your Shopsmith today?

I used my Shopsmith today. I use it pretty much every day in the winter. When summer comes, it gets parked for a few months.
I'm finishing up my Murphy bed, so I need the Shopsmith every day. So far today, I've done only sawing with it, but I need to do some horizontal boring later.

Can we count yesterday as well? It has been less then 24 hours so I'm going to.

Used the table saw, lathe, lathe with horizontal drill press, disk sander, lathe, in more or less that arrangement.

You can see my first pen if that is of interest to you, that is what the tools were doing.

I am an old guy so I don't remember.

I found out that there three things that happen when you get old.
First is that you will lose your memory.
But I forgot what the other two things are !!
I don't think I used anything or I forgot.

Setting around with my foot up from two surgeries and not allowed to walk or stand on it for 6 weeks, so the only SS usage I am getting is reading the Forum emails or youtube. So keep posting so I have something to do. Right now would be a great time to have that SS catalog to dream and drool over. But as soon as I can I have to rest my high side speed control and then start building a cabinet for the shop from Shopnotes I have been looking at. REally looking at building that sharpening station.

Drilling, Belt sander, band saw, more drilling, sanding, band saw, sanding and okay I admit it, I seldom use the lathe as my Jet lathe is so quiet and the perfect height thus not painful for my bad shoulder., Yup I'm bad. Jim

Sadly the only tools I used today were a broom and a dust-pan. :D After completing my last list of honey-do's, and having returned my portable tools from my project of the pirate ship, it was once again time to make the garage/workshop ship shape. Two days of sucking dust and I think I am almost done. I think tomorrow I will be able to start laying out my next project. Oh what will it be?
