Miter gauge guide washer

Post by eldyfig »

Can anyone tell me how tight the miter gauge guide washer should be? If I seat the screw, the end of it is above flush with the miter bar. I backed it off until the end of the screw is flush. Just want to know if it should be tight or not.

In my case the screw is not proud of the bar.

You'll probably have to loosen the screw after an appreciable amount of use to rotate the washer because it will wear down a little. You will want at least two threads on the screw to hold firmly.

My recommendation is to seat the screw and file off the part that is proud of the bar. You want the washer to sit firm against the underside of the bar in order to properly guide the unit.
