Custom accessories?!?!

Im wondering what kind of custom jigs and add-ons you guys have done to your shopsmith. I saw one that was a pipe fitted around some wood stock. Also wrapped with sand paper as a massive thicknes planer.
I know you guys have some great ideas out there, I need some inspiration and I know im not the only one. Lets see what you got!

Plus this lets you smart ones gloat!

Made extra end tables using wooden dowels and some MDF boards.

Fit a Craftsman belt sander to one of those tables. The belt sander couples up perfectly with the Shopsmith coupler tube.

Made a hanging cabinet for storing things that fits under the Shopsmith and hangs from the tubes. Plans are on this forum somewhere.

Made a shelf that sits on the left end of the carriage to hold the DP chuck, hex wrench, miter gauge and two blades or sanding discs.
Modified old style BS cover to see the tightness gauge, to allow wrench access and to attach a DC.

I have an owner made copy lathe and SPT adapter (not by me) and an overhead pin router (by me) at home on my 10ER and in Az I have made a thickness sander and a router table. They have all been posted here before.

If there's something you need and you don't have it, there's a pretty good chance you can figure out a way to make a ShopSmith into it. They are just so versatile!

Paul, Is the copy lathe worth it? also I do not know what an STP is...

I'm having a rough time trying to envision some of the custom accessories that the fellas here have done. I'm pretty keen on the shopsmith in part because its just so neat and also because its been a long time since I did any kind of woodworking. I don't really consider framing woodworking.....

One forum member (prmindartmouth) has done a SS mounted EERF Grinder/strip sander.

Robert Bailey famously did some mods to make his shopsmith work better at metal working and such (http://shopmachineadventures.com/).

There are a few different router table type setups that people have done. cobalt60 did one (http://shopsmith.net/forums/showthread. ... ight=incra) which is similar to how Bailey did his. shipwright also posted a fully DIY version of the same thing.

Oh, and if you look at old literature from SS, you will see images of people using their unit as a base for photo enlargement, and one person who hooked up a wisk

You put STP in your car engine.

SPT on the other hand I have seen both as "special purpose tool" and as "single purpose tool". I think SS uses "special".

My biggest mod is my Push me - Pull me (as in Dr. Doolittle) double drill press. I am quite pleased with it.

It is now on a caster set but I still have more things to add to it. I wanted to be able to set it up with something like the mortising set or other setup and leave it undisturbed if I needed to drill some holes. It also pretty much saves me from the expense someday of a lift assist kit since I am unlikely to ever need to raise any of my other SS's to vertical.
It is still to get some small pulleys, cable and weights to make it easier to raise and lower the headstocks and tables. It is also getting on-board drill bit and accessory storage.

Of course the best thing you can do for a Shopsmith if you have the room is give it SS companions.

Yes I think the duplicator is worth it but it depends on what you need to make.

Francis is right. STP is for your engine. I was testing to see if Francis or JGP would correct me first.

I made an extenchen to my lathe, Now I can turn spindles up to 7' 6" on my shopsmith.
