Couldn't help myself, another Ebay whoops

Post by wiredone »

I wrote this letter to the seller of this "thing", I just hate it when someone calls wierd stuff a "ShopSmith". Here's the link to the item in question.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... Track=true
"While the Paramount was an interesting entry into the history of American made "MultiTools" in the 1950s, It is in no way related to a ShopSmith. ShopSmith is the only real survivor of the Multi-tool "wars" that raged back in the post war days, and is still proudly made here in the USA. I only cringe when I see tools like this called a ShopSmith, and would appreciate it if you could change your description.
Look at it this way; suppose some fellow buys it and then discovers it is NOT a ShopSmith?
Whoops, there goes a negative feedback.
As a fellow seller, I hate to see this happen to anyone.
Thanks and good luck.

Most likely, the seller deliberately used the word Shopsmith to drive searches to his listing.

I can think of at least three possible reactions from the 'seller'(BTW this is not it's first 'appearance').

You will be totally ignored.

True expression of ignorance and a disclaimer added to the listing(do watch out for curly tailed mammals with bovine like(two) toes).

The seller will chastise you for meddling and threaten to 'report' you for harassment.

All have happened(on separate occasions).

Another 'situation' is when a seller appears to have inadvertently listed an item twice. Usually they appreciate the heads up if true.

The folks who actually are selling more than one item, but post the same pix drive me nuts, but not as much as those who use a single pix for different(not identical) items.

We need to realize many of the sellers actually do not have a clue, or do not have enough! Then there are the 'listers' who are repeating what a client told them.
