Solid Black pictures

Post by JPG »

Today(Tue/Wed) I have been experiencing black space where an attached pix should be. Clicking to view its properties causes it to display(until paged off the screen, then that space is black again when scrolled back to it).

Any clues as to why?

Hmmmm Maybe we could tell better if you would post a picture! You know we like pictures here.

Actually, I was looking for a recent picture that you had posted to see if there were any clues. I was unable to find any. Hmmm Maybe for us, they just come out blank instead of black.

Might try flushing your browsers cache. I've seen some odd things happening like the avatars getting mixed up and being oddly positioned. I'm not seeing that now after a complete flush.

Ed

This AM I noticed the same phenomenon on other sites. So it is likely a 'local' problem!

Ed: I don't suppose having 7 iterations of the browser running has anything to do with it!

Hmmmmmm! I evicted the browser iteration that was serving e-mail duty.

No more black pix. I was trying to screen capture the 'issue', but cannot do so since purging.

All's well etc.

Thanks Ed!

Ha! So I thought!

Finally bit the bullet and flushed all iterations of FF running.

When I attempted to reload it, an update commenced.

Do not know it the pending update waiting in the wings had anything to do with it, but I think the problem has disappeared. Again!

Instead of having multiple copies of FF running try setting it so that new pages open in "tabs".

That way there is only one copy of the browser running but you can still have several pages open at the same time and easily change between them.

To change the setting in Fire Fox click Edit - Preferences - Tabs , check all of the boxes.

With all the tangents I typically take off on(linking...), those tabs are already in use, and the screen is only so wide!

Good suggestion.

P.S. Tabs are under tools in my version. 'Everything' already checked.
