Thanks to all!
This headstock has the double bearing quill. All headstocks after serial number 190000 has the double bearing quill.

Shopsmith mark V-B 500

The B headstock means that you have a toggle switch at the 12:00 position on your headstock. Also I am looking for saw guard for it SS197064 1985.

Sarge43, if you go to the Shopsmith website -- http://www.shopsmith.com -- you can check their parts catalog for part numbers and prices. Not knowing exactly what parts you need makes it difficult to answer your question directly.

So, my Mark V has a serial number 072588, it would not be double bearing quill... ?
I bought it new from the Shopsmith Montreal Store Oct 25th, 1988 and it is marked on the bill of sale as a Mark 510. I bought a SS demo band saw at the house reno show that they were coming to in 1990. I since upgraded to 520.

So I would have to take care of that or is it necessary ?

From Dec 1987 on has date codes. Yours is 07/25/88. You will have the two bearing quill as standard equipment.

Would mind taking a picture of your "b" showing the "toggle switch at the 12:00 position"?
