Most Rarest Shopsmith Part?????

Post by hdoilcan »

Just wondering what you think is the most rarest shopsmith part?
I just purchased SS 10er spt adapter kit (complete) that I thought was pretty rare.

Until this week possibly a Mark VII speed cam. Now maybe Mark VII front way tube rack gear.

rare part

I agree that the setup you recently got is a rare SS item, although they do show up on ebay occasionally.
One part that I have only seen once on ebay (and I've been watching pretty steady for a long time) & was never with any other 10 er I found, is a 10er lower table saw blade guard.

This one came with my dad's machine, so I always figured it was part of the package, but I figure it either broke often or was an optional part because I just don't see it.
I'd be curious if that's just my experience or if they're scarce.
My dad's 1951 10er, 2 more 10er's, same vintage, a Goldie MK5, a 510 shortie with 34inch tubes, bandsaw, jointer, jigsaw, belt sander, a ton of small SS goodies and still looking...you just can't have enough Shopsmith stuff

Nope, I must have missed it. Crap, I'd like another.

The lower guard was not part of the standard package. They are very scarce. I have seen three complete power mount adapter kits and no lower saw guards in my limited travels looking at 10E/10ER's. However, I see the lower guards on Ebay more often than a complete original power mount adapter kit.

Hello

This is my first time posting. I have had a shopsmith for a number of years. I have used it for small stuff in the basement. A friend had one who really loves his after spending many hours watching his dad on his. I bought a used one. I am getting back into using it and the attachments. I wanted more attachments. I bought a 55 with attachments. One of the things I found in the box of items was a different style drive hub. I was hoping someone with alot more experience than me could shed some light on it. I tried to post a picture not sure if its going to post. The hub has some extra grooves right next to the other ones.

Welcome to the forums Sunset! Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable members can help with the part your talking about.
