I didn't go by any plans. Just dragged out the cedar scraps and figured it out as I went along. It is really pretty simple. I'll draw something out in Sketchup when I get a chance.

Here's a quick and dirty SketchUp with one side hidde so you can see the inside. As I built it, I didn't measure anything - just drew it out to what looked about right.

One thing I need to go back and fix is to make the side of the platform a little taller. The dice do jump over those walls every now and then.

I find this especially interesting because back in my mad scientist years (seed corn research) we made a unit that was remarkably similar out of Plexiglas to clean small batches of experimental seed types. If you went about half-way between the top two baffles and made a 1 1/2" hole in the back (opposite the tray) for a shop vac connection and remove the tray (we ran it into a small cardboard box) you would have pretty much the same thing. The vac sucked out the light stuff like bee's wings and other chaff but let the heavier kernels fall on through. Air flow was adjusted by a piece that allowed adjusting the size of the lower opening.
Being Plexiglas it was kind of fun to watch work. I just called it a "seed cleaner". The technicians called it an "aspirator".

Several years ago Susan and I stopped by the St. Vrain mill in Cleveland, NM.
(Side note: We own the vast majority of the St. Vrain, NM town site in eastern NM) What we saw there influenced my guess as to the function of Heath's project.
