A Lot of Double Talk??
With what we all think we know about Shopsmith equipment, can a claim that it is "Made in the USA" withstand scrutiny. NO! Don't answer that unless you have read and believe you understand these simple guidelines.

When I was but a child my father was involved in importing costume jewlery from Japan. If a $1 necklass was shipped to Los Angeles there was a rather heavy import duty. (Yes, necklasses were only $1). However, if the jump ring was not attached, then both the chain and the jump ring were imported as "findings" and there was either no duty or a much lesser charge. (not sure which as I was young). My job, and that of many friends, was to attach the jump-ring onto the chain and box the product for sale.
For this after school labor we earned enough for a weekend movie and popcorn.

Reads like a bunch of legal rederick to me. I have a truck made by an American Company but the manifest says it was assembled in Mexico. I have a car made by a Foreign Company but that manifest says it was assembled here in the US. I know not everything Shop Smith sells is produced here in the US. Customer service told me that their table saw blades are produced in Germany.
