Cross Compound Slide Table

I'm looking to do some work with small aluminum parts and would like to use my SS 510 with a cross compound slide table. Does anyone have a recommendation as to what kind of compound table works well and how to best mount it on the work table?

Appreciate any help!

I purchased one from Woodcraft several years ago and use the Shopsmith large T-Nuts to attach it to the slots in my 520 table. I can take pictures if it will help. It moves in both the X and Y direction.

PS Are we talking about an X/Y vise (for use with the drill press) or a cross compound table? When I first saw this, my thought was table (saw).

Another option would be a compound vice. With one, you could clamp a tool bit or tool holder in the vice and still get x and y movement. With a compound table, you would still need a mechanism to hold the tool bit; although you could use a quick change tool post which would give you a lot more options with regard to tools that could be used.

Metal lathes gots table mounted on carriage...

Lotsa different 'SPT's' mount to the table!:D

Yes its ax x-y vice for the drill press not the lathe. But I could mount it on the carriage like the Universal Tool-rest banjo.

For horizontal movement I can move the carriage with an acme screw.
