Difference in 500 to 510 headstock

I have a model 510 and I am picking up a 1965 Model mark V (500 I think) on Saturday to use as a power station for SPT.

What is the difference between the 500 and 510? I know the tables and associated equipment are different, but what about the headstock? Will my jointer and band saw connect or do I need a different coupler ?

Everything should connect up fine, though you may have to align the SPT's to the 'new' headstock drive hub. For me 500, 510, and 520 describe table configurations, any of these could be on a Mark V with a 1953 headstock.

Depending on the date your 500 was manufactured the may be some difference but from the perspective of SPT's they are the same.

I think there were some 500's with smaller motors and many were shipped with single bearing quills. I believe all 510's had dual bearing quills and 1 1/8 HP motors.

Sale fell through. I was to picjk it up Saturday while I was in the area. Last night, a neighbor of the seller came by and decided to buy it. Sounded like a great deal! Oh Well.

There were Mark 5 Greenies and early Goldies with 3/4 hp motors. They also were gilmer power train.

Later Goldies(1963) and later through Mark V today all(except power pro) have poly v and 1 1/8 hp motor.

Two bearing quill was introduced in mid eighties with an improved 510 and have sn starting with '19'. Later all production went to date codes(no sn).

Keep in mind even an ancient Greenie may have been upgraded to any later version(power pro included)!
