Axial Play

I am not sure what we are discussing here but I am having fun and learning 'something' as we go.

This short clip may or may not work but if it does, please post your thoughts. Axial play or no axial play or something else?

Oops. No video for the moment. I have not learned the trick.

I have been corrected by pointing out that 'axial' means along the line of rotation. So I believe quill motion away and towards the headstock is what was being described.

My thinking was tangential!(pun intended;)).

Your setup looks like a front to rear demo.

If this is referring to my image posted in this thread, the blocks were intended to eliminate any rotation so that I could feel whether or not there was any rotation of the drive hum (left end).

I was attempting to attach a video but that has been a bust.

The axial rotation is next to nothing; definitely less than .030" previously reference in a different thread.
