Shopsmith Repair and Service Shop

With my poor health for the past few years, I am having to give serious thought about selling my extensive collection of used and new Shopsmith parts, equipment, attachments, special tools and many regular tools. I have hundreds of pictures and instructions on repair and rebuild most Shopsmith collection. I believe I have at least 3 or more very large shipping trucks worth of items. 100s of ft of knockdown Shelving and cabinets would be included

This would be a good start for someone wanting to do part or full time Shopsmith sevice. I believe you would need al least 12 by 24 shop with and additional 12X24 shed for parts.

I am sure a payment plan can be worked out if any one is interested,
I hope my wife will not sell all the item to a scrape metal place when I am no longer around.

My other choise would be a partner to acommplish the work and used my parts, equipment and parts at my shop with my instructions. I see this as a part-time business.

The person would need a few weeks working with what I have to be familiar all my tools and methods I use. (training included)
I have averaged 12-15 headstock rebuilds and various SPT rebuilds each year for the past 10 years, I have several years worth of inhouse work to recondition the many dozens of the used parts I have. My health prevent this volume of work now.

Bill, I think we all hate reading this post. You have help each of us along the way. this is the kind of scenario I would take seriously if I was only closer to you. I'd love to keep your service alive. I understand your health issues and I'll speak for everyone by saying we wish you the best. And if I can somehow get to Florida I will make your place my tourist destination of choice.

Sorry to trouble everyone. My doctor today found I have three different non-Alzheimer medical problems showing from several results of previous lab work and tests that is causing my current problems. He says I should feel better in another week or so with different strength and new pills. It have been a bummer sick time for me this year with only a few days in my shop and felt my time was very short on this earth. I will still be answering questions and doing some headstock and motor rebuilding plus hope to start reconditioning the tons of used parts I have stored. Maybe some day, I can start selling a few of the excess parts I have. I had enough stock for another 5 to 10 years of rebuilding work stored. Thanks for all the responses and incouragements.

I still have a few shelving units to rebuild and mount cabinets so I can setermine just what parts I really do have available.

My major item to sell is a one of a kind 70s-90s built Craftsman 10" 3 HP professional table saw with over a 8' table, an upgraded fence and a aluminum router insert table on one end, This has locking type casters so is easy to move. I take up more than 1/3 of the center of my shop. It only has a few hundred hours of operating time since I brought it new and added several aluminum extension tables/plates to the table. A very unique saw table. I need the room for cabinets as I do not use the table saw recently. I estimate the table weights 300 to 400 pounds and is easy to move. Very tight tilt arbor and uses a link belt for the motor power. Very smooth and little vibration when operating.

All I've visited Bill's shop and I who ever were to take him up on his offer would have no regrets. I believe you have more stuff than I saw the day I took the tour of the Shopsmith factory in 2008. You have forgotten more than most of us will ever know about the Shopsmith. I have a place in Florida but it's only a condo over an hour away. <heavy sigh> You came back well from the back surgery. I saw you last last year and you did not demonstrate any signs of Alzeimer's to me. We ran out of time and I didn't get to see half of your huge warehouse/shop. I will call you this week.

Sorry to hear this....but here's to the new medications!

You have been a great help to me, the short time I've been on this forum, both directly and by reading many of your posts.

Hopefully you can find a way to return to your shop in the manner you want!

As I'm sure would be the sentiment of everyone on this forum, please ask for help if there is anything I can do.

There should be a condensed version of all Bill's knowledge on every subject of this forum that Bill wrote and illustrated and be put together in a special area of the forum. Bill could edit this with the help of other members. I don't know if it is feasible, it would have to be concerted with the forum's admin.
It's just a thought.
In some countries, people like Bill are encouraged (money wise) to transmit their knowledge and experiences so it is not lost.
