That is so, and you really lose more then that. I always told my children that when they are angry, they only harm themselves: The person that your anger is directed at usually could care less, and yet it causes your blood pressure and heart rate to increase, along with other, less visible, detrimenatal effects to your body. It is best to get over it, and fast.

This is an appropriate place for this:

Think about 'Forgiveness' for a minute. What is actually going on. Why should I forgive someone who has done a horrible thing (maybe even a heinous criminal thing to a family member)?

Mostly, because forgiveness has little or nothing to do with the perpetrator; it has everything to do with the victim. Specifically, you give up the right to get even. You give it up... to God... to the State... to whatever civil authority is in control. That is the cost of living in a community, either a faith community, or a civil community (or both!). What happens to the evildoer is no longer your concern. If it is, you haven't really forgiven them.

Forgiveness is NOT pardon. Forgiveness is NOT reconciliation (although that may be the end goal). Forgiveness is looking the evil done in the eye, excusing that which can be excused, and letting the rest wash off your back. It is not yours to worry about anymore.

As a Christian, I am told that if I don't forgive, I won't be forgiven myself. While I make no claim to know the faith or belief of others on this forum, might I point out that Jesus was raised as a carpenter? Coincidence? I think not.

Anyway, as Easter passes once again, I did want to take the opportunity to wish all a Blessed and Happy Easter.:)
