Replacement motor for a 10e
I have a SS 10e and I would like to upgrade the ao smith 3/4 hp motor. Can anyone offer suitable suggestions and sources? Thanks

DC
Hi, I just picked up (yesterday) an old Free Spirit treadmill... FOR FREE!!! After stripping all the useful stuff off of it and recycling the rest, I am left with a 2HP Leeson DC variable speed motor with all the controls. I am going to test the electronics, but if the one blown fuse is any indicatiotn, this might not take too long, I just might have a full system to put on the old Model 10ER.
I'll post pics as I go in a new thread, but if you are going to change the motor, why not go with something that you can have much better control over the speed with? Not to mention the extra horsepower!
Now, I just have to figure out how to change MPH to RPM...

This would be one way to do it.derekdarling wrote:Hi, I just picked up (yesterday) an old Free Spirit treadmill... FOR FREE!!! I have been thinking putting a DC motor on my 10ER so I will be following your progress with interest.

If you don't want to fool with all the figuring out this and that, You could just call skip Campbell. He sells turn key DC motor kits. They aren't cheap, but with Skip you get a lifetime of support and an excellent product.

Progress
Progress so far: I figured out that the fuse (250V 15A slow-blow) is not availalbe anywhere on earth any more. At least, not the parts I am near. Radio Shack in Canada doesn't really exist anymore, auto parts places don't deal with the voltage, HD and the other big box stores don't, so tomorrow I go to an electronics store a few miles down the road in Langley B.C. It might just turn out that that is all that is needed! If so, I might just look for a breaker to swap out.
One thing I might keep is the 'deadman' switch that turns the treadmill off if you trip!
BTW, mdcaldwell74, sorry for hijacking your thread, I plan to start a new one detailing the process.
