Bandsaw, think I finally have it right

I previously tried to re-saw small pieces of hard wood without much success. Usually the wood ends up bowed, or the resulting rough grain requires more sanding than I wish. Working on a small intrasia project, I receive a box of Basswood scraps. I decided to re-saw to workable size. Wow, it was nice. The SS bandsaw cuts the soft wood like butter. The result is almost smooth enough to stain without sanding. Using the 1/4in blade that came with the unit (555419). Nothing beats a nice machine doing the type of work it's designed for.

I have resawed walnut, maple, oak, elm and pine all with the ss 1/2" blade. I have purchase a 5/8" blade but haven't had to use yet. I think the key is slow and steady and make sure your saw is tune up.

Now that I realize I can do it, I will order a 1/2 in blade and try again on harder wood. Thanks. Sometimes it just takes a little positive re-enforcement.

GARY - Good to read about your successes in both purchasing and sawing:)
While you are ordering 1/2" blades, order two! The one with 4TPI hooked teeth for re-sawing and the one with 6 TPI for making straight cuts in flat stuff. Also should mention that Shopsmith's 5/8" 3 to 4 TPI blade does a very good job of re-sawing.
