ER Belt squeal

Just replaced upper and lower belts on an ER with a speed changer. Old belts were very wore but unit ran pretty quiet. With the new belts on, there is some squealing coming from the center pulley of the speed changer. What is the proper amount of slop in the tightness of the belts? I'm wondering if there are some guidelines here.

On a car a new belt may sing for a short break in period.
a little baby powder will usually stop that.
I don't know if that's a good idea on a shopsmith.
Like I don't think it would hurt but maybe it needs attention to something else.

then again the ER is your baby

After going through the "instructions" step by step, she's pretty quiet. The "instructions" were a little hard to follow as I'm a visual learner, but using the "instructions" was the right way to go.
