Hi Everyone,
It occurs to me that Shopsmith itself must be willing to have the show come and tape a segment there.
As I understand it, a lot of the visits that John makes across the country are in fact initiated by the companies themselves, inviting John and his crew to come tape the show.
Maybe it might be wise to check with the staff at Shopsmith to see if they are interested in having "Made In America" come to the factory for a segment. If they are not, it will do no good starting a posting campaign on the "Made In America" website. If they are, it might be a good idea if Shopsmith sent the show's production company an invitation.
Hopefully Nick can add to this thread and let us know how Shopsmith feels about having the show come to the factory, before the show's website is filled with Shopsmith requests.
Also, a couple of the posts on the show's website that were made 3-4 years ago are mine, and I never heard anything back about them except a standard "thank you for my interest in the show" email.
I will gladly join a posting campaign again as long as I know that Shopsmith themselves are onboard also.

Hey Woodburner,
I think even if shopsmith doesn't want to do the show... can't picture why not but anyway, other will be reading what is posted. If they come across the name Shopsmith and go "what the heck is a shopsmith" or "I didn't know they still made those" or "I remember Grandpa having one", it could lead to them getting one or even dragging out an old one they have setting it the back of the garage and getting back in to some woodworking and perhaps buying a few new attachments.
At least they will know that shopsmith has a loyal following I guess is all I'm saying. If a show comes about fine, if not at least the shopsmith name has been seen.

I posted the address and customer service number along with the suggestion that they contact Nick. Hopefully they do that. If Nick were to post here and let us know how SS feels about this that would be good......woodburner wrote: ..........Maybe it might be wise to check with the staff at Shopsmith to see if they are interested in having "Made In America" come to the factory for a segment. Gentlemen, we are just 22 people all of whom wear several different hats and we don't have the manpower to respond to all of your good ideas. So we prioritize. If you were Bob, which would you have me do with the limited amount of spare time I have between Sawdust Sessions -- continue to work on educational products that may bring some measure of money in the door or coordinate a visit from a cable show that may or may not improve sales? You should know that Shopsmith was featured on "Made in America" back in the 90s (may or may not be the same show) that cost a lot of time to coordinate and produced no measurable sales. So it's a foregone conclusion what Bob with say: "Keep your nose to the DVDs."
All 22 of us here at Shopsmith appreciate your good ideas -- and the wellspring of concern and good wishes from which they come. Our failure to comment or act on a suggestion does not indicate that we aren't interested, thankful for your input, or that we don't think it's a good idea. It simply means that we have to focus our limited time on blazing the path we've laid out.
With all good wishes,

Thanks Nick!
I agree with you. This should be something for us Shopsmith owners to work on. You have enough things going on. Chances are it will never happen but if just one person sees the message on MIA web site and buys something from Shopsmith than it was worth it.
Now- I see free shipping is offered on orders right now so off I go to order that belt sander I want.
Thanks!

Nick, If you read this, please understand that my comment about not enough interest was not directed at SS or you, but at my fellow SS owners that did not take the time to post at the John Ratzenberger site. It sounds like a Made In America show with SS as the subject has too much of a time requirement for you anyway. That is okay; we are just trying to help, and you won't discourage me, for one.Nick wrote:........
