I don't think that came across as a heated response. He was just trying to let the Power Pro owners know what is affected if they choose to adjust some of the settings that users were not originally intended to have access to - and consequently have not been fully educated/warned about. As an engineer who fields dangerous implements to fleet users, I think his response was well worded and showed great tact and restraint.

There have been two 'responses'.

The first was a bit testy. But then so was the post that precipitated the response.

The second was as you describe.

Why do you need a new forum to sell or trade Shopsmith items? You can do this on the Yahoo Shopsmith Group or at the Shopsmith Users Group forum. I have purchased items that were sold buy members of both of these groups.

Rules, taxes... whats next on this SS board? Maybe those few could join the Wall Street protesters, march along with a big SS sign. The other forum rules seem to frown on listings. Also, the ssug always seems dead. I'm guessing the owners of this forum (ahem) might open themselves up to another stupid lawsuit. I could see someone seeing a listing on this site, buying it and getting their thingy cut off with it, so in their eyes its probably wise not permit.

Is the factory store still open? Any feedback about it, bargains or unusual items?

Ok, I'm a newbie here but, to me it seems that shopsmith should alow a USED for sale section, or at least a barter or trade.
I think it would increase their sales in the long run...more used shopsmith moving around in peoples hands, there will be a bigger demand for new replacement parts, and upgrade parts.

I am tired of waiting for some of the things I need to come up on the other places, so at some point (soon) I will buy new from shopsmith, yet every shopsmith I have owned has been used. I got my first shopsmith (15 years ago) for free, and went to a local store and bought all kinds of accessories.
I got my current shopsmith for a bargain by begging on craigslist...then I bought another on ebay to get all the attatchements I needed. Yet I still have a want list that is well over a grand from shopsmith. Someone else got a bare bones shopsmith out of the deal, and I believe they bought the needed belt from shopsmith, how much money did S.S. get from something I made nothing on?

If I didn't do the "wheelin & dealin" thing I wouldn't have a shopsmith at all. And there would be another machine (the one I passed along) sitting in a basement doing nothing. I wouldn't need (want) the guard, I wouldn't want the bigger weels or the other stuff I suddenly can't live with out.

I think they are great machines, I like to use them, I also like to tinker with them. This is a great product and I think shopsmith should learn to use these used, or secondary markets to their advantage....As I look at this last paragraph I wrote why am I thinking of a Harley?
