Spending Saturday Morning on the Webinar

with Doug Reid was very informative. To start with, I almost did not get to do so. I had to do a last minute, panic installation of Java. There was no forewarning that I needed Java to connect but I downloaded it and got connected.

However, I had no microphone connection so I was unable to talk with either Doug or the group. I believe there were nine people that joined in.

Now for a suggestion.

It would sure be nice to have someone like Doug resurrect the Sawdust Sessions. All of the tools are there and the video quality was absolutely fantastic.

Doug, you said you liked doing this because it did not require a lot of travel like the TA did. Now is your chance. Resurrect the Sawdust Sessions. I promise, I'll log on and behave myself on a regular basis.

Shopsmith --- don't miss a chance to bring back the Sawdust Sessions. Nick, you got competition.

Impatiently waiting for my invite... I agree with Dusty and I'll add that If Shopsmith is going to survive as an internet sales company, it needs to get more better quality videos on line. In addition to the lengthy Sawdust sessions they need many short videos showing demonstrations of every operation and major accessory. This is the only way to attract new and younger clients who are in their prime earning/buying years.

I don't know this for a fact but while listening to Doug Reid, during the webinar, I believe I heard him say that he was preparing some Shopsmith videos. I gathered that these would not be hour long sessions but rather short, more pointed sessions (videos).

I do not believe that Doug comes on the forum but maybe the word that these videos are of interest will get back to him somehow.

I just found this link that may be interesting to some of you. You should find a number of short videos done by Doug Reid, the host of the webinar I attended today. Notice the additional "Doug Reid" links other than the one that connects initially.

Dusty, question? Since I know that you attended the demo at Lowes...was the webinar defferent? I recieved an invite but was not sure as to why I should attend.

Dusty....since you have now seen both the Lowe's demo and the webinar, is their a difference in between the 2?

The Lowes demo was more informative with regard to overall PowerPro characteristics (from a salesman's point of view). The host was definitely most interested in selling you a PowerPro. If you wanted to buy something else, he did not seem to be very interested even though he could sell you anything in the catalog.

Now I am sure that Doug is interested in selling you a PowerPro but his videos did not come across (to me) in that manner. He seemed more interested in conveying his general technical knowledge about the machines. View the youtube videos and see for yourself.

Doug would do a fantastic job if given the task of resurrecting the Sawdust Sessions.

I don't know. I received an email inviting me to register for a webinar session. I ASSUME that eventually everyone on the email list will get an invitation.

I suppose that you could call CS and request an invitation.

I would suggest that those owners who already have PowerPros should be the last to receive an invitation to the webinar! Why? Because current PowerPro owners are not likely to buy another and if they are interested they will seek Shopsmith.

Apparently Shopsmith only goes by a mailing list and I have a suspicion that invites to the webinar go to those who made recent purchases. Mine came soon after I bought a special.
My PowerPro was one of the first 10 shipped and I would agree with you Dusty. I found the videos interesting but I didn't learn anything I didn't already know.
